Sallie Mae Tactics
Going after the relatives of deceased students.
This tactic sounds pretty disgusting and I would hope it was not true but it fits the general attitude of this company and they are not isolated incidents. There are reports of people getting harassed just because they are related to the deceased and have not signed a promissory note. Some of the articles I have read say that a tactic is to prey upon people who have no legal obligation to pay.
Victims of this tactic report that they get put into the famous Sallie Mae Auto Dialer. Once in the auto dialer system they could stay there for years getting multiple calls a day each time having the wound of a loved one torn open. If you are in this situation then get publicity for it because when the light is shined on a situation like this they will and have backed down.
This person wrote their Senator and they shammed Sallie Mae into correcting the issue.
